Despite the warm period in Niger, this quarter was marked by significant activities at YMCA Niger. This demonstrates the strong commitment of our members, volunteers, and staff to contribute to the development of Nigeriens and the transformation of young people and their communities. We express our gratitude to our technical and financial partners for their support in carrying out our programs and projects for youth.
YMCA Niger organized an entrepreneurship training for young people with business ideas or projects from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7, 2024. This training, within the framework of the Youth Entrepreneurship Project funded by Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World), aimed to equip young girls and boys with business skills to develop themselves and support their families by creating businesses and entrepreneurial activities in their communities. A total of eighteen (18) participants diligently followed the program.
Young Volunteers Training
As part of the YMCA Sports Center project funded by BMZ, a training session for the third cohort of 8 young girls and boys took place on Thursday, June 20, 2024. The training focused on voluntary and civic engagement of young people, with the objective of making them active youth, catalysts for change in their communities and the nation.
From May 20 to 28, 2024, Osborne Wanyama, Business Development Executive at the African Alliance of YMCAs, stayed in Niger to assist YMCA Niger in developing a business model and a financial plan for the sustainability of the YMCA Sports Center funded by BMZ. To provide young people with opportunities to grow and flourish in body, mind, and spirit, we run football teams for the well-being of young people and the community. Training sessions and matches create an environment for discussion and sharing among young people.
