During the past weeks, Cameroun-YMCA team on Civic Action for African Peace, Security and

Sustainability (CAAPsS) project, is working to engage stakeholders and contribute to the

development of the National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security. Last Friday, 25th October,

2024, Eugene Mbee, the Programme and Training Director met with Mr. Achaleke Christian, CEO of

Local Youth Corner, and key actor on Youth Peace and Security implementation in Africa. He

committed to assist and support the efforts of the YMCA. Monday, 28th October, 2024, the team

met with Mme. Maha Hadja épse Ibrahim, Director for Civic Education and National Integration of

the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education. They have to opportunity to share the work of the YMCA

as well as the purpose of the CAAPSS.

The Director and her collaborators appreciated the initiative and express their interest to see the

YMCA play an important role in the implementation process. Later in the day, the team met with

Mrs. Fadimatou Iyawa, President of the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC).

As the leading bodies of youth initiatives, the CNYC is the youth voice with Government and

Development partners. During the meeting, they discussed about the work of both entities, and

agreed to work together on Youth Peace and Security National Action Plan process, but also to

sign a partnership agreement for future initiatives.

The main outcome of those meetings is the fact that Cameroun-YMCA joined the National

Technical Team on Youth Peace and Security, which gathered the main stakeholders working on

the issue in Cameroon.
