YMCA Liberia Change Agents Lawrence and Agnes developed the Monrovia YMCA Children Saturday morning Leadership and enrichment program for vulnerable kid’s ages 9-17 in Buzzy Quarter, a slum Community located in the center of Monrovia, Liberia.
The program aims at increasing the leadership and civic skills of vulnerable young people in slum communities. It engages participants every Saturday with games, lectures, visits or site seeing, and other appealing activities in an effort to restore hope, increase the sense of belongings and passion to drive the Africa we want.
Currently, 40 kids are benefiting from the program and the first circle comes to an end the first week in February, 2019. YMCA Liberia empowering Young People for the Africa we want.
The YMCA Change Agent programme which Lawrence and Agnes are beneficiaries, is a global leadership development programme to empower young leaders as change makers in their own communities.
YMCA Change Agents are young volunteers and/or staff from YMCAs across the world who strengthen the YMCA so the YMCA can serve more young people. They participate in innovative and life changing experiences including online and face-to-face trainings, mentoring and local project development for expansion of youth services. They gain skills to help transform their YMCA and community and they build connections to an international network of other young leaders.
Since 2014, 350 Change Agents have graduated and are leading change in 67 countries around the world. Change Agents are active and their projects are changing lives.
