Teachers from 8-day care centres in the Ghana YMCA met at Koforidua YMCA Centre for a one-week in-service training.
The training started on Monday 30th April 2018 with an opening ceremony attended by the Executive Director of Ghana YMCA Mr. Kwabena Nketia Addae. Also present at the opening ceremony were the Regional Directors of the regions where the day care centres are situated and whose teachers participated in the training session. Daniel Ofosu for the Eastern Region, Matthew Amuzu for the Volta Region and Gabriel Ofori Appiah for the Ashanti/BA region.
All Directors encouraged participants to take active part in the training and ensure to add to their knowledge and skill to make an improvement back home on their return.
The executive Director gave a brief background to the training. Five teachers who included the Administrative and HR Coordinator of Ghana YMCA went for the approved Ghana Education Service Course in Accra for 8 weeks at the National Nursery Teachers Training Centre (NNTTC).
The training facilitators were Mrs. Veronica Ampofoah Nanor the Administrative and HR Coordinator of Ghana YMCA and Mr. Tony Pachison Head Teacher of the Oda YMCA Day Care Centre.
There were fourteen (14) teachers from the following eight (8) schools:
Trainees were trained in the following areas: creative Arts, Mathematics, English Language, Play & Working with parents, Environmental Studies and Child Development.

At the end of the training, all schools present were given syllabus, Teachers Guide for all subjects and other materials to make their own Teaching and Learning Material back at school.
