Report on the 12th Africa Alliance of YMCAs General Assembly

Congratulations to the newly selected YMCA S2C Ambassadors for the 6th cohort of the S2C program.  The S2C program is a signature program of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs that is designed to unlock the potential of young people like you with the skills and confidence to transform yourselves and other young people into socially and politically active agents of change. As you kick start this journey, it is our hope that you make the best out of it.

ANDRIANTSILAVO Miora Ny Aina Fanantenana is from Madagascar, she is the co-founder and the leader of Youth for Women Empowerment and Engagement Club (Y-WEE) at YMCA Madagascar, Ankerana branch. Through this role and space, she works with her colleagues and other youth to fight against gender-based violence and to empower women. She is currently enrolled in her second year of a Master's in Sociology, specializing in policy and governance research. She is passionate about the social and economic empowerment of youth and women and also loves doing pastry. She is excited to work with this cohort and expects to improve her leadership capacity and gain access to a strong network.

Augusta M. Gbondo is from the YMCA Central Branch, Bo, Sierra Leone. She has a Degree in Agricultural Economics and is currently a Technical Volunteer at IFAD SL (RFCIP-11) and also a Project Volunteer for YMCA Serra Leone. She has been working with different organizations as an activist in promoting sustainable agriculture and also an ambassador for Climate Change. She looks forward to more opportunities, interactions, and experience-sharing in any field and is honoured to be part of S2C-Cohort 6.

D Patience H. Thor is a national female youth representative at the YMCA of Liberia. She has an Associate of Arts Degree in public administration and management. Currently, she is a student at the African Methodist Episcopal University. She volunteers as a Peace Advocate on the Civil Peace Service Program (Peace Building Program) implemented by the YMCA of Liberia. She is excited about the S2C program and expects to learn, connect, and widen her networking strategies with potential young leaders from diverse places. She can't wait to learn, share, and meet her fellow S2C Ambassadors. 

Jimmy is a member of YMCA Madagascar and Leader of one of the clubs (STEM) YMCA Antsirabe. He is a sourer working in a recruitment company. He has a degree in Engineering, specifically in Automation and informatics and right now trying to get his second master's in accounting and Finance. He is very passionate about aggrotech and human capital.  He expects to build a strong network🤝 and experience exchange in any field. believes that diversity and different point of view is key to success

Mariama Adamou is from Niger and a volunteer at YMCA. She is a student and currently works at a drugstore. She is extremely excited and honored to be a part of the S2C program.

Massah Tagueu Raïssa is a Cameroonian and born-again Christian since 2012. She is a member of the senior club of the Menoua branch of YMCA Cameroon. She holds a PhD in chemistry and is currently a postdoctoral fellow. She is very happy to participate in this program and would like to improve her skills and confidence as a leader to enable her to make more impact on her environment through this program

Oscar Kapindula is the Youth Programs Officer and Gold Youth Peer Education Programme Sites Coordinator for YMCA LUSAKA. He has professional Qualifications in Counseling and Public Administration with a gift and passion for Leadership and Public speaking. He is excited that through this Program under the Africa Alliance of YMCA, he will be able to learn and network with fellow youths, change-makers, and leaders as he works to add value to the YMCA movement across the continent and globe. He believes that it is a great time to be alive and part of this reality unfolding.

Oscar Orest is from the highest pick in Africa, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. He is a member of YMCA Tanzania. He is also a teacher by profession where he teaches History and Geography at one of the YMCA Schools in Tanzania. He is a degree holder in arts with education. He is looking forward to the learning experience during this year's S2C program and wants to connect and network with fellow African youth.

Precious Omolola is a Political Science graduate, a model, and a content writer. Presently, she is a member and comes from Nigeria. Aside from being a corp member, she is also an active member of the YMCA in Nigeria. She expects to know more about the S2C initiative and its values and also how she can be much more valuable to her YMCA and her Community at large. She looking forward to connecting, learning, and also having fun while doing those things with everyone.

Sarah Adzumeson Daniel comes from YMCA Nigeria. She is a Youth Volunteer and Peer Educator at YMCA Mada Hills. She holds a bachelor's degree in Science Education with a specialization in Physics from the University of Jos, Nigeria. She loves to read, meet new people, play board games, and travel. She believes that it is a great privilege to be part of this Cohort of the S2C Program and looks forward to learning and interacting with everyone as they work collectively to bring sustainable change to their communities.

Surafele Ashenafi, works for the YMCA of Ethiopia as an IT and communications coordinator. He is also a graphic designer and extremely passionate about Technology. He is also quite active in his community through volunteering, which makes him very happy.  Surafele is glad to be here and hopes that there will be a lot to learn. 

TCHAMDJOU CHARELLE is a national Youth representative at the YMCA of Cameroon. She is also an accountant at Navella Company and bakery design. She is happy to be part of this cohort. She believes that it is an unexpected experience to connect with Leaders like the rest of her fellow S2C Ambassadors for learning and experience sharing.

Theodora Siatubotu is from Livingstone, Zambia. She is a project coordinator for Livingstone YMCA and a graduate with a secondary school teacher's diploma in ICT. She is passionate about mental health and outdoor adventure. She is looking forward to the learning experience during this year's S2C program and expects to connect and network with fellow change-makers.

Tito Kiprono is a BYC organizing secretary at the Nairobi South Branch and a Kenyan YMCA Peacemaker Ambassador. He is an environmental economist by profession and an Ecotourist by passion. He hopes that to engage and share ideas on how to better Africa to the world and create a safe space for all youths within the continent.

Victor Bockarie comes from YMCA Sierra Leone and is chairman of United Y East. He is a young proud Pan Africanist, a final year student pursuing a degree in Rural Development Studies at the Njala University Sierra Leone, a debate and public speaking coach, and a youth mentor with a strong passion for youth empowerment and community development. He is of the expectation that he will gain and require knowledge in youth leadership development as well as innovative approaches in community development and youth empowerment. He also wants to know more about the Vision 2030 of the YMCA. He is happy and honored to be a part of this cohort and anticipates greatness, interaction, and fun throughout this life-changing journey.

Zandile Songelwa is from South Africa, she volunteers at the Cape Town YMCA. She is a recent UCT graduate with a degree in Politics, Governance, and Industrial Sociology. She is currently working at South African History Online (SAHO) as a research intern. She is excited and honored to be a part of the S2C program and looking forward to unlocking her potential and gaining skills and confidence to become a socially and politically active agent of change. She is excited to meet and collaborate with all the other young leaders from all over Africa who are passionate about social change.

Desmond Adjei-Sarpong is a Media Person by profession particularly in Live Video Production and a final year Computer Science Student at Accra Technical University. He is a member of the Ghana YMCA. His expectations for the program are to connect with other young leaders, mentors, and experts, and to build a strong network that will support his development and that of the societies he comes. He is looking forward to a transformative experience.

Betty Ewurafua Mensah is an Administrator at AFREECA Ghana Ltd, a renewable energy company in Ghana, and a strong youth member of the YMCA in Ghana. She holds a bachelor's Degree in English language from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. During this program, she expects to learn new leadership skills, meet people from different backgrounds, and make a positive impact in her community. Additionally, she is also looking forward to building her network and improving herself personally.

 

Arkiel K. Attiem jr is the Chairperson on the Climate and Environmental Committee of the National Youth Council, YMCA Of Liberia. He is also a national Youth Representative to the National Board at the YMCA of Liberia. He is an Environmental Science student at the Africa Methodist Episcopal University. Ariel is passionate about developing young people’s capacity in leadership, and public speaking, and is looking forward to networking with other S2C ambassadors.
