The President of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs (AAYMCA), Mr. James Ekow Rhule, today announced the appointment of Ms Rakotomalala Lantonirina as the next General Secretary of the AAYMCA.
Today’s announcement is the culmination of a rigorous selection process undertaken by the General Secretary Search Committee commissioned by the AAYMCA Executive Committee.
Ms Rakotomalala is currently the National General Secretary of Madagascar YMCA. She will succeed Carlos Sanvee who is moving to World YMCA in January 2019 as the Secretary General. Ms. Rakotomalala has over 15 years work experience in the development field.
She has led the YMCA in Madagascar since 2002 turning it around from a weak movement to a champion of the Y 3.0. She has also served in the World YMCAs Resource Group of Youth Employment and served in special missions including the Independent Fact Finding Mission to Zambia YMCA in February 2018.
In her country, Ms. Rakotomalala has also contributed to building a strong civil society as well as advocacy for youth development issues including the development of the Madagascar National Youth Policy. Ms. Rakotomalala is also an ordained Minister of the Malagasy Reformed Church (FJKM).
Before joining the YMCA, Ms Rakotomalala worked as a Senior Consultant / Facilitator in Management system and practice at the Institut de l’Education etdu Management, Antananarivo, Madagascar ( ITEM).
Ms Rakotomalala holds a Master’s degree in Economic and Managerial Studies, Specializing in Financial. (Financial Management Specialty, 5 years University) University of Antananarivo- Madagascar.
