“Together we will overcome”
AAYMCA Annual Report 2020
Nairobi, 1 March 2021. “This report shows how the African YMCAs are standing together as one as they support their youth and communities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic” write AAYMCA President Dr. Adrien Coly and Secretary General Lantonirina Rakotomalala in the World YMCA 2020 annual report, which is issued today.
For the first time, the report is issued alongside those of the World YMCA, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America & Caribbean regions.
The report charts both the immediate and the long-term practical and strategic response to the Covid-19 pandemic, which severely affected YMCA’s activities in the course of the year.
It also highlights a year of important new beginnings, notably in the responses and efforts in creating awareness of the pandemic as well as mitigating the impacts especially for vulnerable communities. Transitions by national movements into virtual working and moving their programmes online, the Africa Youth Scenarios, development of an online platform to support young entrepreneurs develop resilience during this period and online capacity building forums.
The Reports covers Programmes, Capacity Building, Advocacy, Partnerships and Governance, and also includes news from each of the four regions to supplement their individual annual reports.
